Celebrating Faith and Mercy: Inside the 13th Divine Mercy Fiesta in Cebu

Every year, thousands of faithful gather in Cebu for a powerful celebration of devotion, unity, and hope—and in 2026, the 13th Divine Mercy Fiesta promises to be one of the most meaningful yet.

Held at the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Garing, Consolacion, Cebu, this nine-day spiritual journey from April 3–12 culminates in a grand celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday. The event beautifully reflects its theme: “Celebrating God’s Mercy: A Journey of Faith, Healing & Mission.”

A Nine-Day Journey of Reflection and Renewal

The Novena Masses are thoughtfully structured, with each day dedicated to a specific group of souls, inviting participants into deeper prayer and reflection.

From Day 3 (April 5, Easter Sunday) through Day 9 (April 11), each day features:

  • Morning and afternoon Masses (10:00 AM and 3:00 PM)
  • Different main celebrants, including bishops and respected clergy
  • Choirs and parish communities from across Cebu
  • Pilgrims representing districts, parishes, and organizations

Easter Sunday begins with a celebration led by Rev. Msgr. Romel G. Kintanar, followed by an afternoon Mass celebrated by Most Rev. Jose S. Palma, D.D, drawing Divine Mercy devotees and communities like BLD Cebu.

Each day’s intention—from devout souls to those who do not yet know God, to the meek and humble, and even souls in purgatory—creates a deeply inclusive spiritual experience that resonates with all walks of life.

Community at the Heart of the Celebration

One of the most inspiring aspects of the Divine Mercy Fiesta is the strong sense of community involvement.

Throughout the week:

  • Local government leaders and barangay councils participate actively
  • Parish groups and choirs bring music and life to each Mass
  • Families serve as sponsors for bread, wine, and liturgical needs
  • Devotional groups from different districts unite in prayer

From the Catholic Charismatic Community to the Friends of the Divine Mercy Community, the event becomes a vibrant tapestry of faith in action.

Divine Mercy Sunday: The Grand Culmination:

The highlight of the celebration arrives on April 12, 2026—Divine Mercy Sunday.

The day features a full schedule of Masses starting as early as 6:00 AM, with different celebrants and participating communities throughout the day.

Key Highlights:

  • Multiple Masses every few hours to accommodate thousands of pilgrims
  • Participation from various districts and Divine Mercy organizations
  • Choirs and sponsors contributing to a solemn yet festive atmosphere

The pinnacle is the Fiesta Pontifical Mass at 3:00 PM, celebrated by Most Rev. Alberto S. Uy, D.D, joined by clergy and visiting priests. This grand Eucharistic celebration symbolizes the unity of the Church and the overflowing mercy of God.

The celebration concludes with a final Mass at 5:00 PM, sending pilgrims forth renewed in faith and mission.

More Than an Event—A Spiritual Encounter:

The Divine Mercy Fiesta is not just a schedule of Masses—it’s a transformative encounter.

It’s where:

  • Faith is rekindled
  • Communities are strengthened
  • Mercy is experienced and shared

Whether you are a long-time devotee or attending for the first time, this celebration offers a space to reflect, heal, and reconnect with God’s boundless mercy.

Join the Journey

As the Shrine warmly invites everyone, this event is more than a tradition—it’s an open invitation.

“This serves as an invitation.”

If you find yourself in Cebu this April, consider joining the thousands of faithful in this extraordinary celebration. You may come as a pilgrim—but you will leave renewed.
